Biography

Meshi Chavez lives and creates work in Portland Oregon. Meshi’s most recent productions include Being Moved,“...or be dragged.” and  We Two Boys. His work has premiered in both New Mexico and Oregon.


Notable productions includes: “Une Fleur por mon amour” (2012) & Light that lingers-(Olowan Oyate Wichapi) - Fertile Ground New Works Festival (2010).Meshi is a frequent contributor to Portland’s Ten Tiny Dances:  “let go or...”- PICA’S TBA 2011 Dance Truck, Speak the Language- Beaverton Farmers Market (2011),  Kiksuya - Beaverton Farmers Market (2010) & Sending a Voice at PICA’s TBA Festival (2008).  Meshi collaborated with Portland based choreographer Tracy Broyles in “I want to stop wanting” (2009), and Cocoon Bird (2008). In 2008 collaborators Meshi Chavez, Tracy Broyles, and Stephanie Lanckton were selected by Movement Research to perform at NYC's Judson Church. Meshi is co-creator of Momentum: Conscious Movement in Portland where he teaches ongoing workshops and classes
