Performance

By dancing one learns how to be in their body. The next step is knowing where the body is in Space and Time. When an individual can do these things, the question of "Who am I " is the next to be revealed. Through movement I believe that we align ourselves with the natural world. When we stop and observe the elemental forces, when we hear wind blowing, and feel days passing, we know that everything in our internal and external world moves of its own accord. We are movement, from birth until well beyond death. It is this, and the multitude of relations that exists within it, that I seek to explore within the work I create. Sometimes this involves the drama of the mundane human world, and others times it reflects the equally dramatic world of nature and spirit.

I challenge my dancers and audience to look beyond the imagery to find the door that opens to one’s own personal experience. Choreography is often started from imagination work or what I would call "consciousness," I then distill this down, refining the intricacy of the movement and the moment. My work has been called visceral and raw and contains elements of theatrical dramatic moments.  It can be up front and striking as well as subtle and energetically based. In the end I seek to create work that touches on the basic fundamentals of human existence.
